Careers
Do mission work that actually ships
JRSS engineers build systems that forecast outbreaks, move petabytes of public health data, and put AI safely into government hands. Small teams, real scope, and a three-year Inc. 5000 growth run behind them.
Open roles
Nine open roles. All positions are full-time W2, fully remote within the continental U.S., and require U.S. work authorization; roles supporting federal programs may require U.S. citizenship. Apply with the application form below — questions to jobs@jrssinc.com.
AI/ML Engineer
Build and deploy machine learning and generative-AI solutions on Azure and Databricks for federal health programs — the same practice behind our CDC data modernization and forecasting work.
Databricks Engineer
Build and optimize the Databricks pipelines behind our federal data and AI/ML work — the same platform practice that keeps petabytes of public health data analysis-ready.
Role details
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines with Databricks, PySpark, and Delta Lake, including Delta Live Tables
- Build ingestion and transformation workflows with Azure Data Factory in a governed medallion architecture
- Support AI/ML teams with feature engineering, data-centric applications, and model-ready datasets
- Implement CI/CD for data workloads and follow engineering best practices in Agile delivery
What you bring
- 3+ years in data engineering with hands-on Databricks and PySpark experience
- Solid SQL and Python; experience with Azure data services preferred
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and Agile teams; federal delivery experience a plus
Cloud Solution Architect
Design secure, scalable Azure and AWS solutions for federal programs — from architecture blueprints and migration roadmaps to hands-on technical leadership through delivery.
Role details
- Work with federal stakeholders to translate mission requirements into cloud architectures
- Develop blueprints and roadmaps across Azure and AWS — compute, data, integration, and security services
- Lead cloud migrations and modernization from proof-of-concept to production
- Enforce best practices for security, performance, reliability, and cost; mentor engineering teams
What you bring
- Proven experience as a cloud solution architect with successful Azure and/or AWS implementations
- Strong cloud security and compliance knowledge in regulated or federal environments
- Architect-level certification (Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Solutions Architect) preferred
Full-Stack Engineer
Design, build, and maintain responsive web applications for federal health programs — React on the front, Python / C# / .NET Core services behind it, Azure underneath.
Role details
- Develop responsive web applications with React.js and modern front-end practices
- Build and optimize backend services and APIs in Python, C#, and .NET Core
- Implement cloud solutions on Azure — Functions, Blob Storage, Cosmos DB
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and work across the full agile lifecycle
What you bring
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience
- Strong React plus Python or .NET backend skills; Azure experience preferred
- Attention to performance, security, and quality in production systems
Cloud Security Administrator
Keep our federal cloud environments hardened and compliant — administering Azure security tooling, running assessments, and closing findings before anyone else finds them.
Role details
- Administer and configure cloud security services — Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Azure Monitor
- Run vulnerability assessments and security audits; track remediation to closure
- Maintain compliance against NIST and CIS baselines and support ISO 27001 / CMMC practices
- Support incident response — investigation, containment, and remediation
What you bring
- 5+ years in information security with a cloud focus (Azure preferred; AWS a plus)
- Working knowledge of NIST, CIS, and federal compliance frameworks
- Scripting/IaC familiarity for security automation preferred
AI Governance Lead
Make AI safe to ship in government. Own the governance framework behind our GenAI and agentic AI delivery — model risk, documentation, monitoring, and federal AI policy alignment.
Role details
- Define and operate AI governance processes for GenAI, RAG, and agentic systems in federal programs
- Align delivery with federal AI guidance and agency policy — transparency, human oversight, auditability
- Establish model documentation, risk assessment, and monitoring standards across projects
- Partner with engineering and security teams so responsible-AI controls are built in, not bolted on
What you bring
- Experience with AI/ML governance, model risk management, or responsible-AI programs
- Understanding of federal AI policy and compliance expectations
- Ability to turn policy into engineering practice — checklists, gates, and reviews teams actually use
Security Manager
Lead the security program of an ISO 27001-certified federal contractor — policies, audits, incident response, and the discipline that keeps our certifications earned, not just framed.
Role details
- Own security policies, procedures, and risk management across the company and its federal programs
- Maintain and mature ISO 27001 and CMMC alignment; lead internal and external audits
- Direct incident response and coordinate with program and client security teams
- Guide and develop security staff; report posture and risk to leadership
What you bring
- Experience managing an information security program, ideally at a government contractor
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST 800-171/CMMC, and federal security expectations
- CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certification preferred
DevSecOps Engineer
Build the secure pipelines our federal delivery runs on — CI/CD with security in every stage, Terraform infrastructure-as-code, and automation across Azure data and application platforms.
Role details
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub with integrated security scanning
- Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform across cloud environments
- Automate and support Azure services — Data Factory, Function Apps, Databricks, Synapse, AKS
- Identify vulnerabilities and build security measures into the development lifecycle
What you bring
- Proven experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Python
- Strong CI/CD and containerization knowledge (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CIS/NIST security frameworks; Azure or DevOps certifications a plus
Cloud Data Engineer
Modernize federal data platforms — moving legacy warehouses to Azure Synapse and lakehouse architectures, and building the pipelines that keep mission data flowing.
Role details
- Design and build data integration with Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics
- Modernize legacy databases (e.g., Oracle) to Azure managed data services
- Implement lakehouse / data-mesh patterns with strong governance and lineage
- Plan implementation roadmaps and write technical specifications with Agile teams
What you bring
- 5+ years hands-on with the Azure data platform (ADF, Synapse; Databricks a plus)
- Experience in data architecture patterns — lakehouse, data vault, data mesh
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer certification preferred
